Why We Love It

Epicure at Taronga Zoo (formerly known as Taronga Centre) blends iconic harbour-views, lush wildlife settings, and stylish event architecture for weddings that are as unforgettable as they are photogenic. Located within Taronga Zoo’s 28 hectares of harbour foreshore, this venue gives couples sweeping vistas of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, and the Bridge paired with beautiful indoor-outdoor spaces. 

Among its standout spaces are:

  • Dalang Ballroom, a grand indoor hall with floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies and sweeping harbour views—a blank canvas ideal for formal seated dinners. 

  • N’Galawa Terrace sits above the ballroom, offering panoramic outlooks, private bar, and indoor-outdoor flow.

  • Gili Rooftop, a circular rooftop terrace with harbour views, retractable doors, atmospheric at sunset and night. 

  • Outdoor ceremony locations like the Bird Amphitheatre and themed natural areas (e.g. African Savannah Deck) provide unique and immersive backdrops.

Catering is handled by Trippas White Group, known for seasonal, sustainable menus and high-end food styling. 

What to Consider

  • Balancing Indoor & Outdoor Elements: Outdoor ceremony sites are stunning but exposed. If weather or wind turns, having solid backup indoor options (or movable cover) is essential.

  • Transport & Guest Access: Taronga is a zoo setting on a hill—guests often arrive via ferry + bus, taxi, or car. Parking can be limited; consider transport guidance or arranging shuttles.

  • Accommodation Planning: There is an on-site wildlife retreat with ~62 rooms/suites for guests, which is a big perk, but for larger weddings many guests will be staying elsewhere. 

  • Capacity Limits: Each space has its own limits. For example, Dalang Ballroom (≈250 seated), N’Galawa Terrace (≈150 seated), Gili Rooftop (≈60-90 seated), etc. So your guest count will strongly influence which spaces are viable. 

  • Cost & Premium View Factor: The prime harbour views and iconic setting come with premium pricing. Be sure to understand what’s included (AV, styling, lighting, etc.) so surprises are minimised.
